Hope Taylor August Alumni Retreat Recap

Education, Travel

Aug 23, 2018

So last February I attended Hope Taylor’s Workshop! You can see that blog HERE . It was amazing! Two days of Hope pouring her heart our with content about her wedding and senior workflow! Everything down to how she styles the details on wedding days! I loved getting to meet other photographers who thought like I do and just want to LOVE on our clients.

Well she also hosts an alumni retreat! Where photographers from the workshops and in her online course can come to learn about educating other photographers, outsourcing, marketing your business, and just to hang out together:) The content portion isn’t as long as the other workshop was but it was just as insightful! We also got a little mentoring session with Hope to talk about one thing that is a pain point in our business that we need help on! Best 10 minutes of my life! I also loved getting to sit by her and Erika during dinner to learn about their lives and just see them as real human beings! Sometimes we forget how #reallife their lives can be even though people like Hope, Erika, Katelyn James, and Amy & Jordan seem like celebrities to us! They are so relatable and have the same struggles we have had or currently have!

The retreat was held at the Noelle in Nashville. I had never been so it was so much fun to visit! The hotel was the PRETTIEST! It was modern like with light colored walls, giant rooms with high ceilings, and the cutest morning coffee brought up to your room! The restaurants were the same as well! I was blown away with how luxury everything was and how good everything tasted! I loved hearing all the southern accents being from up north! We went to dinner the first night at the cutest country restaurant. Lights lined the ceiling, a live band singing my favorite country songs, and amazing food! I loved getting to know the other girls and walking around town.

We had an amazing styled shoot the second day! A couple that got married in May that Hope photographed, two amazing dresses, 3 adorable seniors, and all the stunning details. We also started off this day with donuts from Five Daughters Bakery…I cannot even tell you how delicious these donuts were. They are amazing and dangerous! The florals and the bride were gorgeous! Every photographer in that room was circling her to get a great shot because everything was perfect! The seniors were also adorable and made it so easy to get some amazing shots of them! This is the day we ended with mentoring and an amazing dinner at the Fin & Pearl! I got shrimp tacos because they are amazing, along with their mashed potatoes! Worth every penny. Sitting with Hope and Erika was a highlight of this trip:)

The last day we said farewell at a restaurant that served the most delicious brunch! My roommate and I , Tammy, shared mimosas together and chatted about her own upcoming styled shoot! After we all parted ways saying our goodbyes to Hope and Erika, I ventured around Nashville before driving 8 hours back home! I stopped at Amelia’s Flower Truck, some boutique shops, FWD clothing for a souvenir shirt, and Five Daughters Bakery AGAIN because why not.

I had the most amazing time in Nashville. Its such an amazing and unique city. Everything is centered around the south and country, what could be more perfect?

Check out my favorite photos from the whole trip! I cannot get enough. And because there is a sneak peek of the styled shoots near the end I want to say a HUGE thank you to the vendor team who made this happen!

And here are my iPhone photos from the trip!

I met Tammy at the last workshop and we roomed together for the retreat!

I loved this idea because we don’t have anything like this in Michigan!

AHHH Erika!!

Yes I went back again before I left…

Henrietta Red’s the most quaint and cutest place for brunch!
